ABOUT JIM SIMPSON
Jim Simpson is a Maryland State Police and NRA certified pistol instructor. He is a former Department of State Diplomatic Security Officer and has also provided armed security at various sites throughout Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania, for a number of security companies. He has been trained on use of the Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB), pepper spray, X-ray scanners, metal detectors and wands, as well as the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), CPR and First Aid.
Jim began his career as an economist for the White House Office of Management and Budget, which is tasked with preparing the president’s annual budget proposal. He also has an extensive writing career based on his knowledge of business and government, and has written many articles on the Second Amendment and other issues for such publications as Capital Research Center, American Thinker, Daily Caller, Law Enforcement Alliance for America, Soldier of Fortune magazine and many others. A strong Second Amendment supporter, Jim has been an NRA member for 35 years.

Jim provides instruction for both the Maryland Wear and Carry permit, (also called CCW or Hand Gun Permit (HGP)), and the Handgun Qualification License (HQL), required to purchase a firearm in Maryland. He also provides training in basic pistol shooting, pistol care, shooting safety and tactics for self-defense with a handgun.
