MARYLAND HANDGUN PERMIT TRAINING CLASS
This is a 16-hour course, mostly in-class, with a portion taken at the shooting range where you must obtain a minimum passing score of 70%. This entitles you to a Maryland State Police issued Handgun Permit (HGP), which we usually refer to as CCW (concealed carry weapon). It also requires a separate application fee and fingerprints. Renewals require 8 hours of instruction and the same minimum shooting score of 70%. The permit is good for two years. The renewal is good for 3 years. When you go to renew, be sure to apply 90 days before your permit expires!
It is best to get your CCW license first. If you do so, application fees, training and everything else is waived for the HQL.
